Ronnie Lane Memorial Concert

Ronnie Lane, together with Steve Marriott, was the driving force behind The Small Faces. There is no need to list the songs which they wrote and performed, because they have become all time classics.

In 1994, Ronnie along with his third wife Susan, and her family, move to Trinidad, Colorado. On June 4, 1997, Ronnie Lane died in Trinidad, CO, at the age of 51.

On 8th April 2004 Steve, and fellow musicians, performed to a sold-out concert at the Royal Albert Hall in memory of Ronnie.

Steve had this to say about the event:

"Sam Brown was good; Anthony and Tony Rivers the unsung heroes. Small World were good as were Dennis Greaves and Steve Diggle. Debbie Bonham struggled with the 'flu but gave it her best shot in her band that included Jerry Shirley (Humble Pie) on drums. Slim Chance were excellent and it was wonderful to see my old mates Henry McCulloch and Chrissie Stewart. What about the Eire Apparent re-issue?

Ocean Colour Scene rocked and it was great to see Slasher Cradock and Simon and the lads who have an additional guitarist and bass player. The band are better than ever. Paul Weller was his usual self and shone like a beacon. Paul and Ronnie Wood were good together on Ronnie Lane's "Ooh La La". Pete Townsend performed a couple of numbers, notably "Heart To Hang On To" which is a beautiful song. Glen Matlock and Mick Jones were a surprise, an ex-Pistol and former Clash man together onstage. I loved "Debris" and we all sang it through a couple of times before they went onstage. Mick Jones is a gas. I apologise for only performing one number but due to circumstances beyond my control I had three numbers dropped/pulled. Annual convention supporter Keith Smart and Midge Ure were both very good and Mark Baxter spun some good tunes. Congratulations Mark and Lou on your marriage last week.

Anyway I made a lot of new mates and caught up with a lot of old ones. Love to all and respect to Ronnie Lane and Steve Marriott."
